I’ll be doing a free webinar on Wednesday March 15, 2023 from 2:00-3:00 pm (Pacific time) for the Mind-Body Training Institute on the topic of A Wellness Approach to Neurodiversity. During the time that I’ve been advocating for neurodiversity over the past fifteen years, my focus has been primarily on K-12 education. But all along, I’ve also been interested in how this model applies to mental health issues for adults, particularly since I wrote my first book on neurodiversity – The Power of Neurodiversity: Unleashing the Advantages of Your Differently Wired Brain– while recovering from an episode of major depression. It was during the period of seeing a therapist that I worked out the idea of ”positive niche construction,” the process of creating an environment which minimizes challenges and maximizes assets to optimize mental health. The webinar will appeal primarily to mental health professionals, but anyone interested in the topic of neurodiversity will find meaningful and useful connections to their own work.
The Mind-Body Training Institute provides a wide range of free and fee-based online courses for therapists and other mental health professionals on topics such as male and female sexuality, conflict resolution, the role of nutrition in mental health, gestalt therapy, building a private practice as a mental health professional, eating disorders, and dealing with narcissistic patients.
